A rundown of the kitchen, cleaning and security devices one lifestyle guide says make running your own home far easier.
Moving into your own place is a milestone, but it also hands you the full load of cooking, cleaning and keeping the home secure. A lifestyle guide published by The Ghana Report sets out five gadgets it says take the stress out of that first solo household.
Here is what made the list, and what each one actually does.
In the kitchen
Instant Pot Pro. The guide puts this at the top, describing it as a 10-in-1 countertop appliance that can handle everything from rice to a whole chicken in a fraction of the usual time. It is programmable, and the inner pot can go into a dishwasher. The quoted price is just over US$100.
Ninja 2-Basket Air Fryer. The second cooking pick has two baskets, so two different dishes can cook at once. A "Smart Finish" setting is meant to time both so they are ready together. It offers six modes: air fry, reheat, bake, air broil, roast and dehydrate.
Cleaning and plumbing
Belife S11 Cordless Vacuum. The piece argues that vacuums are no longer only for carpets. This cordless model is pitched for hardwood, low-pile carpet, tile, upholstery, stairs, beds, curtains, furniture and even a car interior. It comes with three attachments, a retractable tube, and a six-tier sealed HEPA filter — a filtration standard designed to trap fine dust so that what blows back out is clean air.
TubShroom Tub Drain. The cheapest fix on the list. It is a replacement drain insert that catches human and pet hair before it blocks the pipe. It fits standard bathroom sinks and shower tubs, and you clear it by lifting it out and wiping it down.
Security at the door
Google Nest Doorbell and Camera. The guide treats home security as a priority for anyone living alone. This device lets you see who is at your door from a phone or a smart display, and it has a microphone and speaker so you can talk to the visitor. It also sends alerts when packages arrive or go missing. Because it runs on a battery, there is no complicated wiring — you simply detach it and recharge it every two to three weeks.
What to keep in mind
The prices and products are listed in US dollars and are drawn from the American retail market, so Ghanaian buyers should expect shipping, import duty and exchange rate differences to change the final cost. Anyone buying electrical appliances from abroad should also check the voltage and plug type before ordering.
The guide does not claim the five items were independently tested, and it invites readers to suggest their own additions.
