Kumawood Star Sandra Ababio Signs On To Promote Local Paint Brand Tebi Paints

The deal is the latest example of Ghanaian-owned businesses turning to entertainment figures to build trust and visibility in crowded markets.

Actress and social media personality Sandra Ababio has joined Tebi Paints, a Ghanaian-owned paint manufacturer based in Accra, as a brand promoter.

The partnership was reported by Daily Guide Network, which said the company expects Ababio's involvement to lift its visibility and widen its customer base in Ghana's competitive paint and coatings market.

Ababio is known for her work in Kumawood, the Twi-language film industry centred in Kumasi, and has built a sizeable following online. Her role with the company is expected to centre on promotion and helping the brand reach customers it has not yet touched.

Who is behind Tebi Paints

Tebi Paints was founded in 2021 by Ghanaian entrepreneur Stephen Kwadwo Tebi, who also funds the business. The company is based in Accra and operates a showroom at Agbogba.

Its stated focus is decorative coating solutions for residential, commercial and industrial buildings, with product testing and formulation work aimed at Ghana's climate and local construction needs.

The product range includes Acrylic Graffiato, a textured exterior coating; premium semi-gloss paint; washable matte and flat matte paints; satin paint for interiors; Ceiling Pro for ceilings; skimming paint for smoothing walls and ceilings; and Allweather Procoat for exposed exterior surfaces.

Its customers are homeowners, property developers, contractors, painters, retailers and other businesses.

Why brands are hiring familiar faces

The appointment fits a wider pattern in Ghana. Companies competing for attention are increasingly signing actors, musicians and influencers who can carry a message across television, film and digital platforms at the same time.

For a paint company in particular, name recognition and customer confidence matter. Buyers choosing between brands for a new build or a renovation often rely on reputation, and a recognisable face can shorten that decision.

The arrangement also gives Ababio a platform beyond entertainment, and gives a locally made product access to an audience that may not have encountered it through traditional advertising.

What it means for readers abroad

For Ghanaians in the United States and elsewhere who are building or renovating property back home, the growth of locally owned paint manufacturers is worth noting. Products made and tested for Ghanaian weather conditions compete directly with imported brands, often on price and availability.

The source report did not disclose the financial terms of the agreement, how long it will run, or what specific campaigns Ababio will front. Neither Ababio nor Tebi has issued a detailed public statement on the arrangement beyond the announcement of the partnership itself.

Tebi Paints remains a relatively young entrant in a sector dominated by established names, and the company has said its strategy rests on product quality, durability and customer satisfaction.
