Ghana’s flagship fashion and music show returns to the Palms Convention Centre with a focus on disability inclusion, body diversity and youth training in the creative sector.
Rhythms on Da Runway (RODR), the annual show that puts Ghanaian fashion and live music on the same stage, will hold its 16th edition on November 28, 2026 at the Palms Convention Centre in Accra.
The theme for this year is "Unbound", carrying the tagline "Because You've Got Style". Organisers say the aim is to widen the definition of who gets to appear on a runway.
Why the theme matters
According to the organisers' statement, fashion has for years been built around narrow assumptions about body type, age and physical ability, leaving many people out of the picture. Their argument, put simply: "if fashion is made for everyone, everyone should be able to see themselves in it."
In practice, that means the 2026 casting will include models with different abilities, body types, backgrounds and personal histories. Organisers say this will also shape the collections presented, the stories the clothes are meant to tell, and how guests move through and experience the venue itself.
The edition will open conversations on adaptive fashion — clothing designed to be worn easily by people with disabilities — as well as accessible event design, talent discovery, mentorship and employment.
Training and the "Orange Economy"
Beyond the show itself, RODR says Unbound will give young people a chance to learn directly from established designers and get hands-on experience in fashion and the wider creative sector.
Organisers are also pitching the theme to sponsors, donors and development organisations as an entry point for funding disability inclusion, youth training and creative enterprise. They frame this as building practical routes into Africa's "Orange Economy", the term used for the creative and cultural industries.
What to expect on the night
The programme will feature designers and musicians from Ghana and the wider African diaspora, with live performances and celebrity models on the runway.
The evening will also host the Black Star Awards, which recognise public figures the organisers say are shaping Africa's future through leadership, development work and contributions to the creative economy.
The list of participating designers, performing artistes and award recipients has not yet been released. Organisers say those details, along with other event information, will be announced in the coming weeks.
RODR has previously been described by the BBC as "the biggest cultural exposé in Africa", a line the organisers repeat in their announcement.
