The party has opened online verification for delegates and set a September 27 deadline for the final proxy register ahead of the Kumasi conference.
The New Patriotic Party (NPP) says its final delegates' register is ready ahead of the election of national officers, which takes place on Saturday, October 3, 2026 at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium in Kumasi.
The announcement came from Frederick Opare Ansah, chairman of the National Officers Elections Committee (NOEC), the body set up by the party to run the internal poll. He spoke at a press conference at the party's headquarters in Accra after a meeting with aspirants and their representatives.
According to Mr. Opare Ansah, aspirants or their authorised representatives could begin collecting copies of the final register from Thursday, September 17, 2026.
Delegates can check eligibility online
For the first time in this cycle, delegates do not have to rely only on paper lists. The committee has set up an online verification facility on the party's official website.
A delegate clicks on "Verification" on the navigation bar, then enters either a phone number or Voter ID number. A One-Time Password (OTP) is sent, and once it is entered the system confirms whether the person is eligible. Where the details entered do not match the party's records, the delegate is alerted.
This matters for NPP members living outside Ghana who still hold delegate status, since eligibility can now be checked without being physically present at a constituency office.
Who votes for what
The committee clarified two points that often cause confusion on election day. All eligible youth delegates will vote in the contest for National Youth Organiser, on top of the other positions they are entitled to vote for. All female delegates will vote for National Women's Organiser, in addition to their other votes.
For the three National Vice-Chairperson slots, each delegate must select three aspirants on the ballot.
Proxy voting and agents
Proxy voting will be allowed. Mr. Opare Ansah said a framework has been drawn up covering who qualifies, how to apply, verification, approval and how the proxy vote is finally cast. The committee's secretary will directly oversee how it is administered.
The final proxy register is due to be published on September 27, 2026, and the committee has asked delegates who plan to use the arrangement to follow the published guidelines and deadlines closely.
Aspirants have also been asked to submit the names of their printing agents and photographs of their polling agents so that identification, accreditation and access can be sorted out before election day.
Who runs the poll
The election itself will be conducted by the Electoral Commission (EC), Ghana's official election management body, under NOEC supervision and the rules issued by the committee. The NOEC says it is also working with the Ghana Police Service on security arrangements.
Proceedings start at 9:00 a.m. on October 3. Delegates have been asked to follow the arrival and transport instructions that will be sent to them.
