Dome-Kwabenya NDC Treasurer Asks Delegates For Four More Years

Jerry Anyimah is campaigning on his record of funding party activities and a promise to set up a members’ welfare scheme run from the wards.

Jerry Anyimah, the Constituency Treasurer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in Dome-Kwabenya, has declared his intention to seek a second term, telling delegates that his record over the past four years should earn him another mandate.

Daily Guide Network reports that Mr. Anyimah is building his campaign around two main promises: a new welfare system for party members and tighter transparency in how party resources are shared with branches.

What he says he has done

Mr. Anyimah listed a series of contributions he made in cash and in kind during his first term. These include support for the Constituency Executive Committee's flag-hoisting and sound truck projects, programmes run by the Constituency Youth Wing, and the printing of party T-shirts.

He also said he helped feed party agents during the voter registration exercise and on voting day, and supported door-to-door campaigning as well as branch and ward-level activities.

"I have worked together with you as the Constituency Treasurer with honesty and dedication in the last four years," he said.

The welfare proposal

The centrepiece of his second-term pitch is a welfare system for party members. Mr. Anyimah said it would be run separately from the Constituency Executive Committee, with representatives drawn from the wards managing it.

That structure matters in practice. In the NDC, a constituency is divided into wards, and wards are made up of branches, which are the smallest units of the party where ordinary members are organised. Putting ward representatives in charge of the welfare fund is meant to keep it at arm's length from the constituency leadership.

He also pledged that money and materials meant for branches would actually get to them, framing accountability to the grassroots as a core part of his offer.

"I wish to serve our party for the second term as the Constituency Treasurer," he said, appealing to what he called his fellow hardworking comrades in Dome-Kwabenya.

Why it matters

Dome-Kwabenya is one of the larger constituencies in the Greater Accra Region, covering fast-growing suburbs north of Accra. Constituency treasurers are not household names, but they sit at the point where party money is collected and spent, and they help determine whether branch-level organisers get the resources they need during registration drives and elections.

For Ghanaians abroad who follow party politics at home, these internal contests are the quiet groundwork that shapes how well a party is organised when a general election comes around. Delegates at the constituency level, not the general public, decide who holds these positions.

The source report does not name any rival candidate for the treasurer position, and no date for the internal election was given.
