The Republic Bank-JoyNews Habitat Fair Clinic brought banks, developers and building suppliers under one roof for Ghanaians weighing a home purchase.
The third edition of the Republic Bank-JoyNews Habitat Fair Clinic wrapped up on Saturday at the Junction Mall in Nungua, Greater Accra, after three days of activity aimed at people looking to buy, build or finance a home.
MyJoyOnline reported that the venue was still receiving visitors in the closing hours of the final day, with patrons moving between stands to ask questions about homeownership, financing options and property solutions.
Who was there
The fair pulled together several parts of the housing chain in one place. Financial institutions were on hand to explain mortgage and loan products. Property developers showed off available units and projects. Building-material suppliers and other service providers also set up stands.
That mix is the point of the event. Instead of visiting a bank on one day and a developer on another, a prospective buyer could compare offers side by side and speak directly to industry experts about costs and timelines.
The crowd was not limited to first-time buyers. Property investors and people who already own homes also attended, seeking advice on the housing and construction sector.
Why it matters for Ghanaians abroad
Property remains one of the most common investments for Ghanaians living in the United States and elsewhere in the diaspora, and it is also one of the easiest places to get burned. Land disputes, stalled projects and unclear title are familiar complaints.
Events of this kind give families a chance to meet developers and lenders face to face rather than relying on phone calls and WhatsApp photos from home. Relatives attending on behalf of someone abroad can collect brochures, confirm that a developer is a registered business, and take down contact details that can be checked later.
What next
The fair is an annual fixture, and this was its third outing. The organisers have not announced a date for the next edition.
Anyone who made contact with an exhibitor at Nungua should still do the basic checks before paying money: confirm the company's registration, verify land title at the Lands Commission, and read financing terms carefully, including the interest rate and repayment period.
